POP ART x POP CULTURE
24 MARCH - 4 APRIL
VERNISSAGE 24 MARCH, 5-8 PM.
With Lukas Åberg, Nadine Persson, Krister Selander and Nella Hurtig
A mix of oil, acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media from
different artists portraying icons in pop culture.
Åberg’s raw and explosive pop art creations capture the essence of whom he is portraying, it is not rare that his paintings get purchased before they’re even finished.
Selander and Persson both make an awaited return to the gallery. Selander creates playful and unique acrylic + ink paintings of his favorite musicians, he follows his own narrative and does not play by the “rules,” which is highly refreshing. His love for his craft always shows through the finished artwork.
Persson has worked with oils for only a few years and is one of the renowned Swedish artist Markus Åkesson’s assistants, so it is fair to say she has an incredible mentor. Persson holds extreme talent, and her way of catching light and colors when painting realistic portraits of instruments and performers remains unmatched.
Hurtig is one half of the gallery and shows her favorite charcoal + ink portraits of her idols. Her delicate balance between distortion and fine details creates an alluring energy that is hard to overlook.
